SECUREcorp Adopts Latest Technology to stand out in a crowd

SECUREcorp is one of the largest and quite obviously, most innovative privately held security companies in Australia . Employing more than a thousand people, SECUREcorp serves hundreds of corporate, municipal and government clients. SECUREcorp is the first and only security firm in Australia to employ SECUREcorp Segway Human Transporters (HT’s) in their operations. Segway HTs have been instrumental in helping SECUREcorp and its valued clients, to quite literally, stand out in the crowd.

“Nearly every major shopping centre down the east coast utilizes our specialist retail protective services, we have more than 500 employees providing core customer focused security services to billions of dollars of these type of assets. We introduced the SECUREcorp Segway HT’s at our Shopping Centre clients to improve guard visibility, response times and increase customer service.” says Craig Harwood, Joint Managing Director of SECUREcorp. “We were initially attracted to the Segway by the added 30cm in height it provides the rider. We’ve spent many thousands of dollars designing uniforms that are high visibility, but they’re pointless if you have a crowd of hundreds of people and a guard standing in the middle of them. With the added height of the SECUREcorp Segway HT you can really identify our team members, and the officer also has better sight lines. The added visibility of our officers is very important to making customers at the shopping centre’s feel secure.”

According to Harwood, the SECUREcorp Segway HT is used continually throughout the day by the supervisors and other specially trained and approved team members. It is outfitted with a cargo bag containing first aid supplies and carries the company colors and logo decals.

“Our supervisors and patrollers use the SECUREcorp Segway HT to patrol the concourses and back of house areas,” says Harwood. They really like it because they can cover a lot of area in a short period of time, and the public – well, they just love it. They stop the guards all the time and ask questions, which is great because interaction is important to us. They might have seen one on TV or have heard about it on the radio, but they’ve never seen one up close. So when they see it in action, they get very excited. We capitalize on this interaction to give out extra information about the shopping centre, its services and of course promote the security of the centre.”
